Competition Rules and instructions

  1. Entrants can submit up to 2 images per category. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs. JavaJane and organisers do not make any claim on the copyright of your images.

  2. Submit entries by emailing your JPG (max size 2MB) Click the relevant ENTER NOW buttons - include your email address, the category you are entering and a telephone number. We will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without your permission. You will be assigned a number and your photograph will be listed with this unique number.

  3. No adult material or nudity/pornographic/obscene images will be allowed. All entries into the competition must be suitable for publication on websites and in exhibitions and therefore appropriate for a general audience. JavaJane and organisers reserves the right to reject any photograph on the grounds of illegality, infringement of any third party rights, the subject matter being offensive or contrary to standards of taste and decency, or on any other ground that it may from time to time consider inappropriate. The decision of JavaJane and organisers to accept or reject an entry is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.

  4. JavaJane and organisers will try to protect images from Internet theft. Once a picture, photo, or any other type of images is placed online, there is no absolute way to protect it from being copied, modified, and redistributed. You can hinder web surfers from downloading your images, but you cannot stop them. You can label your images as copyrighted, but you cannot force people to respect that copyright without taking legal action. The web is a public forum — do not put anything online that you would not like to see on the front page of the newspaper. If you would like a watermark placed on your images please notfiy JavaJane when entering. JavaJane and organisers take no responsibility for theft of images.

  5. Voting will commence when entries close. Results will be published on the closing date.

  6. The competition is open to entrants of all ages; professional and amateur.

  7. The cost of entry is minimum of £1.00 per photograph and donations can be made by clicking the Donate button.

  8. All donations will go directly to Silver Florin Equine Welfare. When photographs are submitted, the charity donation will be checked to confirm your donation(s). Please donate more than the minimum suggested if you possibly can!

  9. Voting will also be at the cost of (minimum) £1.00 and as above will be checked per vote. This will prevent people from continually clicking the vote button on their photograph! You may vote more than once but the donation must be paid and if proved invalid the vote removed.

  10. Open for entries from 10th October 2008.

  11. Closing date for entries will be Midnight (GMT) 01/01/2009.

  12. Voting will be from 02/01/2009 to Midnight (GMT) 31/01/2009.

  13. Winners to be notified by 14th Feb 2009.

  14. Winners from each category will be placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and will receive a Rosette and card, as well as public announcement on the Horse and Hound Forum, other Forums and on the Internet.

  15. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules.
